Caring for your plugs

Plugs should be planted into a good quality peat or John Innes based compost. We do not recommend growing in organic, peat free or homemade compost as too many nutrient problems can occur.

Our plants are grown in peat pots which have a mesh around the compost which the roots easily grow through. This mesh should be left intact at planting as removing it will damage the plants tender root system.

We recommend potting into 9cm pots or packs on arrival and planting into borders and tubs only  when the roots have filled the pots.

Plants should be grown in a well lit and well ventilated environment. Strict hygene should be observed to avoid disease problems. Light feeding should begin 3 weeks after planting. After about 4 weeks, depending on the time of year, the plants should be  ready for potting on into borders, pots or baskets.

These plants should be protected from frost until established.

We do our best to ensure that plants arrive in the best possible condition but sometimes packages get damaged in the post. If this happens we require photographic proof of damage before any action can be taken.

Happy growing.
