Vintage Sweetheart Paper Drinking Straws – Original Box – Made in Canada
A charming and increasingly hard-to-find box of Sweetheart paper drinking straws, dating to the late 1930s–1940s. It has a very different design than the American Sweetheart boxes you see online. This original Canadian retail box features a wonderful die-cut heart window, showing the orange-striped straws inside — perfect for display or collection. Marked for use in “the sick room, children’s milk, picnics, etc.” — classic period marketing that places this firmly in the pre-war / wartime era. More great wording all over the box - one of the sides says "Children will drink milk with a straw when they will not drink it from a glass."
The straws are paper with a waxed coating, produced before plastic straws became common. The box is for 100 and looks very full, but I have not removed the straws to count them.

Condition notes:
Box is overall in good shape. The top flap has a tear in it and the plastic "window" is just sitting in place is not attached to the inside of the box. And someone had written their name at the very top of the front face. Please review all photos closely.
