Antique Tribal Dan Guere War Mask with African Horn Tribal Art Cote D'Ivoire

An authentic tribal war mask from the Dan or Guere tribe of Cote D'Ivoire/Ivory Coast. This type of mask is known as a "spider mask" due to its arachnid-like entanglement of local antelope horns - most likely from Hartebeest or Kob. This is meant to represent the forest spirits within local folklore and cultural ritual, in addition to intimidating the enemy in war.
