Pair of, Brass Door Knobs, Circa 1900, Screwless Rose, 1 on backplate, VGC
The price is for the pair.
A spindle will be supplied.
These are of lovely quality, with delicate proportions and ingenious design.
The rose serves as a cover for the fasteners used to attach the handle to the door; it is turned onto the handle's shank until flush with the door surface. The handle with the backplate can be used on the pull side of a large / exterior door, with the backplate allowing for the added force needed to open a big door from a smaller size handle like these. Excellent solutions to the many problems faced by our hard working door knobs,
There are traces of what would have originally been a detailed and delicate pattern of decoration. From wear and use, this is quite faint, and the handles, now with their repeating concentric lines, look amazing.
Please study the pictures as they also form part of the description.
Ready to fit.
Any questions, please feel free.
Likewise, feel free to browse my other listings as i often have similar and regular stock of door handles and furniture.
Many thanks
