The commemorative coin is dedicated to the Ukrainian innovative
development, which radically changed the tactics of conducting
combat operations in the Black Sea. Thanks to the operations of the
Main Intelligence Directorate of the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine,
these devices destroyed a number of ships of the Black Sea Fleet of
the Russian Federation, and also for the first time in history hit air
targets: Mi-8 helicopters and Su-30 fighters. The commemorative coin
immortalizes the engineering skills of Ukrainian developers and the
combat feat of the soldiers who turned sea drones into one of the
most effective weapons in this war. The obverse of the coin on a matte
background depicts a stylized image of Magura - a character of proto-
Slavic mythology, a bird-woman with spread wings, holding a sword
and shield. She personifies Mother Glory, Perunitsa - the goddess of
war, victory and eternal life, the patroness of the Slavic-Rus army. On
the shield of Magura is the small State Emblem of Ukraine. In the
upper part of the composition there is the inscription УКРАЇНА, the
denomination 5 and the graphic sign of the hryvnia, as well as the year
of minting of the coin – 2025. At the bottom left is the logo of the
Banknote and Mint of the National Bank of Ukraine.
The reverse of the coin depicts a
stylized unmanned surface vehicle
“Magura”, which is rapidly moving over the waves, demonstrating
dynamics and accuracy. In the upper part of the composition there is a
scene of the destruction of the Su-30 fighter with elements of fire and
explosion, symbolizing effective counteraction to the aggressor at sea
and in the air. Below is the emblem of the Main Intelligence
Directorate of the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine, which emphasizes
the exclusive use of these sea drones by the Group 13 unit, and the
inscription MAGURA, made in the style of the manufacturer’s logo,
which emphasizes authenticity, national pride and recognition of the
achievements of the Ukrainian defense-industrial complex.
