Jean Austruy graduated from the Ecole des Arts Decoratifs et des Beaux-Arts in Paris. He moved to Saint-Marcellin in the Isère department and taught for nine years the drawing in this city and at the Ecole des Beaux- Arts and Industrial Arts in Grenoble. At the same time, he began ceramics first in his garage, then in a workshop he built in 1947 in order to increase his production, the demand being important after the war, he was devoted to his passion of animal sculpture in ceramics or bronze.
