LYDIA BLAKELEY

BORN - 1980

SUPER MOP WITH MARIGOLDS - 2020

EDITIONED: 20/50

Lydia Blakeley (b.1980, UK) gained her MA in Fine Art from Goldsmiths in 2019 and currently resides in North Yorkshire. Her practice navigates the visual ephemera of modern life in the form of paintings and sculpture. Utilising found imagery from a Google search or corporate self-help books in Charity shops, Lydia collects and repurposes her source material to present an aesthetic record of the aspirational yearnings within an individualistic society. A society with an increasing burden to exist visually via social media, leaving behind a trail of performative perfection.
