Plane Prototype History:
The P-61 Fighter Jet Was A Heavy Fighter Developed By The American Company For Northrop During World War II In The 1940s. The P-61 Fighter Was The First Night Fighter Designed By The United States, Similar In Size To A Medium Bomber, Equipped With Two 2000 Horsepower Pratt&Whitney R-2800-10 "Hornet" Engines, Two Rudders On The Tail Struts, And Front Three-Point Landing Gear. The Aircraft Was Equipped With The World' S First Radar Navigation System At That Time, Which Could Engage In Aerial Combat At Night. The Aircraft' S Body Is Painted Black And Often Concealed In The Night Sky, Relying On Its Advanced Onboard Radar To Search And Discover Targets. The P-61 Fighter Jet Was The World' S First Aircraft To Use Fiberglass As A Radar Cover, And Also The World' S First Heavy Fighter Jet With A Three Man Crew. The P-61 Fighter Jet Made Its Maiden Flight On May 26, 1942, Was Delivered For Service In August September 1943, And Was Decommissioned In 1954. A Total Of 706 P-61 Fighter Jets Of Various Types Were Produced. The P-61B Is The Second Production Version Of The P-61, With Little Difference In Appearance From The P-61A. It Introduces An Improved SCR-720C AI Radar And An Extended Nose Of 20.32 Centimeters. The P-61 Fighter Jet Was The Largest And Heaviest Fighter Jet Equipped By The Us Army Aviation Department During World War II, And Also The First Specially Designed Night Fighter Jet In The United States. In The Summer Of 1944, The Black Widow Was Deployed In The South Pacific And Became The Standard Night Fighter For The Army Air Forces Towards The End Of The War. Compared To The Army Air Force' S P-47 "Thunderbolt" And P-51 "Mustang", The "Black Widow" Did Not Have A Particularly Impressive Record, As The Allies Had Already Established Overwhelming Air Superiority On Almost All Fronts When The Aircraft Was In Service, With Few Enemy Planes In The Air, Especially At Night.
