Kahawa 1893 is a specialty coffee company founded by Margaret Nyamumbo, a third-generation coffee farmer from Kenya. Kahawa means “coffee” in Swahili, the country’s primary language.

Growing up on her grandfather’s coffee farm, Margaret witnessed how women contributed 90% of the labor yet were not always fairly compensated. She created Kahawa 1893 to empower the women who make the coffee trade possible and to share exquisite African coffee with the world.
