An original gouache painting by Faith Jaques (1923-1997), that was used for the 1970 book 'Johnnie Golightly and his Crocodile' by Ursula Moray Williams (1911-2006), published by Chatto & Windus.
Please note that the photos from the book are for illustrative purposes only and the book is not included within the sale.
I have a few other paintings from the same book that I will be listing separately.
Faith Jaques was a popular children's book illustrator, who illustrated
books by among others, Edith Nesbit, Andrew Lang, and Roald Dahl. Her
archive, including original artwork are held in the collections of
'Seven Stories', the centre for children's books based in Newcastle upon
Tyne.
I recommend looking at Chris Beetles website for further information on Jaques and to compare prices on the artwork.
