Features include:
• Stamped measurement scale on the arm
• Pivoting indicator blade
• Thumb-screw adjustment
• Original early forged/steel construction
• Matching the known pattern of John Hood’s patented hoof-leveling instruments
Condition:
We deliberately did not clean it and all parts are usable/moveable. Tool shows age, patina, and wear consistent with use. Joints move freely, pointer arm adjusts properly, and the stamped gradations are still visible. No breaks or repairs.
A solid example of an early American farrier’s measurement tool — great for equine tool collectors, veterinary history, farmhouse décor, or primitive tool displays.
