Witch hat knobs first appeared on Gibson® guitars in the mid 1960s Named for their distinctive shape; a tall, narrow top flaring out like a witch's hat. They replaced the earlier reflector/top hat knobs seen on late 1950s models. Marking a visual shift in design as the company entered the Norlin® era.
