This is a solid stainless steel insert that is designed to fix/repair corrosion ridden threads in your aluminum intake manifold.

This stainless steel insert is designed to make fixing your project easy. With 1/2” OD and 3/8” ID (PIPE SIZES) All the tools you need should be in your garage. If you have the tools to drill and tap a half inch pipe whole in aluminum, and a trusted retaining/sealing compound; your good-to-go!

If you can follow the steps, you’re ready to do the job!

1) Drill and tap (using tapping fluid) the corroded/bad hole in your manifold making sure it is centered on the existing boss (if there’s not enough material around the boss, this insert probably won’t work).

2) Place the insert on a piece of 3/8 pipe, test to make sure you drilled and tapped to the proper depth. After everything is at proper depth and alignment, remove insert from pipe and clean thoroughly both insert and hole.

3) Using a generous amount of your chosen retaining/sealing compound (we use JB Weld) apply to threads inside your new tapped hole and a thin amount on the outside of the insert. Again using 3/8 pipe drive to insert down to your chosen depth (preferably flush to the surface). Let retaining compound dry then remove the 3/8 pipe (do not get retaining compound on the inside diameter of the insert or it will lock the insert to the pipe).

4) Inspect your work and you should be good-to-go!
