A brilliant satirical review of America's relationship with alcohol. Published during Prohibition, Seldes skewers the extreme stances on both sides of that debate. It's easy to identify a kind of religious fanaticism on the Prohibition side, but perhaps Seldes' most interesting observation is in pointing out the same sort of evangelical fervor on the pro-drinking side.
A witty and thought-provoking little volume which captures the Prohibition era. Well-illustrated by Don Herold.
