This is a large Japanese Bizen ware (備前焼) ceramic mask depicting Hannya (般若) — the vengeful female demon of Noh theater. The mask was hand-shaped and kiln-fired by Takatori Sekizan (鷹取関山), a known Bizen craftsman.
Produced during the late Showa to early Heisei period (c. 1970s–1990s), the mask features the distinctive unglazed Bizen clay body with natural kiln variations (yōhen) and a warm brown tone typical of high-temperature reduction firing.
The signature 「鷹取関山造」 is inscribed on the reverse, indicating genuine workshop creation.
