Elvis Presley – Hard Headed Woman / Don't Ask Me Why (10" 78 RPM Shellac, 1958)

Released in 1958 on RCA Victor, this 10-inch 78 RPM shellac single features two standout tracks from Elvis Presley at the peak of his early rock 'n' roll dominance. "Hard Headed Woman" is a high-energy, blues-infused rockabilly anthem, propelled by Elvis’s powerful vocals and Scotty Moore’s razor-sharp guitar work. Written by Claude Demetrius, the song was a major hit, reaching #1 on the Billboard charts and becoming one of the first rock and roll records to achieve Gold certification.

On the flip side, "Don’t Ask Me Why" showcases Elvis’s softer, more crooning side, a dramatic ballad filled with romantic longing and lush instrumentation. It contrasts beautifully with the rowdy energy of the A-side, highlighting Presley’s versatility as a performer.

Originally released as a 45 RPM single as well, the 78 RPM shellac version is a prized collector's item, marking one of the final years before RCA Victor phased out 78s in favor of vinyl. Essential for Elvis collectors, early rock ‘n’ roll enthusiasts, and those who appreciate the raw energy of 1950s music in its original format.
