The invitation comes from the collection of Dr Kenneth Washington Gray (1899-1962), who was an oil geologist who surveyed fields in the Middle East, Papua and Australia.  He was a member of the Geological Society of Australia (vice-president 1954-55), the Royal Society of Victoria (honorary secretary 1954-55), the Royal Central Asian Society and the American Association of Petroleum Geologists.
