Description:

The Ukrainian Volunteer Army (UVA) is a volunteer military formation of Ukraine, which was finally formed in December 2013. The symbolic date of the founding of the Ukrainian Volunteer Army, as determined by order of the UDA Commander, is 20 April 2014 — the date of the first offensive battle of Ukrainian volunteers under the command of Dmytro Yarosh during the Anti-Terrorist Operation near the city of Sloviansk in the Donetsk region.

The main tasks of the UDA are to protect Ukraine from external armed aggression, increase the country's defence capabilities, carry out tasks in the combat zone in cooperation with the Armed Forces of Ukraine and other Ukrainian security forces, mobilisation work, combat training, and patriotic education.
