The screen and controls sit on the remote speaker mic, so the compact base unit hides away under a seat or behind the dash. Instant Replay plays back up to 6 minutes of calls you missed, and Bluetooth audio can send the radio through compatible vehicle speakers. Pair it with an XTRAK 50 Pro handheld for location sharing on foot as well.

The XTRAK 80 Pro puts the screen and controls on the remote speaker mic, so the compact base unit can hide under a seat or behind the dash. The large anti-glare OLED display has a dimmer for night driving, and the 2W speaker in the mic keeps voices clear over road noise.

Pair your phone with the free XTRAK Pro App and the radio shares your location with other XTRAK Pro radios, including the XTRAK 50 Pro handheld, even without mobile phone service. The radios need to be within UHF CB range of each other. The app also lets you change radio settings, manage Selcall contacts and extra receive channels, find repeaters and send short text messages.

Fitting
Magnetic mic mount, no hook
The magnetic mic mount sticks to the dash with its adhesive pad, and the mic snaps onto it without fiddling with a hanger hook. The base unit fits with the quick release bracket or the gimbal bracket, and the 2m extension cable lets you put it where it suits. It runs on 12V or 24V, so it suits cars, 4WDs and trucks.

The radio records what it receives, in normal channel mode and while scanning. Press the red REPLAY key to hear the last message again, and skip back through up to 6 minutes of recent transmissions. Three Smart Keys give one-touch access to instant channels, Triple Watch, squelch, call tone, monitor or the equaliser.

Stay on air when channels get busy
Master Scan keeps a group talking on busy channels. Every radio in the group scans the same channels with the same CTCSS or DCS code, and when another user jumps on, the radio moves to a clear group channel. You also get Open and Group Scan with Priority Watch, 50 CTCSS and 104 DCS codes, and 100 extra receive channels you can program from 400 to 520MHz.

Frequently asked questions
What's the difference between the XTRAK 80 and XTRAK 80 Pro?
They share the same radio features. The Pro adds Bluetooth: the XTRAK Pro App for location sharing, settings and text messages, and Bluetooth audio to compatible headsets and vehicle speakers.
What phone do I need for the app?
An iOS or Android smartphone with Bluetooth 4.0 and GPS. The XTRAK Pro App is a free download. Software updates and offline maps download through your phone, so Uniden suggests using WiFi as the files can be large.
Do I need a licence to use it?
UHF CB in Australia is covered by the ACMA Citizen Band Radio Stations Class Licence, and you must follow the conditions in that licence. Uniden notes the radio must only be used in the country of purchase.
Can I talk on all 80 channels?
Most of them. Channels 22 and 23 are for data only, so voice transmission is blocked, and channels 61, 62 and 63 are reserved for future use and are receive only. Channels 5 and 35 are emergency channels.
Will it work in my truck?
Yes. It runs on 12V or 24V DC and accepts 10.2V to 28.8V, so it suits cars, 4WDs, caravans and trucks. It alerts you if the supply goes too high or too low.
