Vintage 1930's Cunard Steam-Ship Ceramic Cube Water Milk Jug Clews Liverpool
Listing: 1 x Cunard Steam-Ship, Clews & Co Ltd, cream coloured, cube shaped, water or milk ceramic jug from the 1930's.
Condition: Used, vintage condition. Manufactured in the 1930's and first used in 1936 on the Queen Mary ocean liner. No original packaging, no instructions. There is a small area of glaze that has gone over the edge into the jug. There is line of wear inside the jug, with a very small area of rough / chipped surface. The stamp mark underneath has wear. This item can still be used or collected. From smoke-free and pet free premises.

Colour: Oatmeal speckled matt glaze / cream.
Material: Ceramic.
Stamped: GEO Clews & Co. Ltd, Tunstall, Cunard Steam-ship Co. Ltd, Stonier's Liverpool. Patent Nos. 718884 - 6, 713957, 717782. ETC. (Please note the numbers are not fully clear on the base and there could be a couple of digits of discrepancy on the patent numbers.)
Height: 11.4 cm. Length: 6.5 cm, Depth / Width: 6.5 cm.
Weight: 272 g, before postal packaging.
Square / cube design, with parallel sides. Debossed vertical line design around the sides of the cream jug. The spout sits on a top corner, with the single handle in the diagonally opposite corner.
Made in England in the 1930's.
This jug was originally manufactured for the Cunard Steam-Ship Co, for commercial use on ocean liners. This was part of matching cube shaped sets including tea pots, cream jugs and sugar pots. The first ocean liners these could have been used on were the Queen Mary in 1936, Mauritana in 1939 and the Queen Elizabeth in 1946.
