This has seen minimal use. Most likely, it was kept close, placed in a drawer, for a sense of protection.
It has minimal wear but does show signs of age, primarily a slight discoloration in the thread color. The outer design may have been brighter in color at one point (even white perhaps), but appears to be currently a soft pretty two toned yellow color.
The piece is vintage, ranging between 25 and 40 years old. It was hand-made by the nuns local to San Andres Tuxtla, in Veracruz, Mexico.
The picture looks like a paper photo with a matte finish. It does not have any extra film or plastic covering. The ribbon at the top may be tied into a bow or used to hang the piece from a desired location.
