This product is a rare mid-19th century antique with a 1862 patent date embossed on the bottom. It is a 4-3/4” collectible piece and in spite of its relatively diminutive size it weighs 1 pound as it is made of cast iron and brass. It serves as a match holder with the ‘acorn’ tilting to dispense the match. This item would be a valuable addition to any collection of tobacciana or match holders, offering a piece of history from the mid 19th century.
