◆Usaburo Kokeshi

Gunma Prefecture boasts the highest production of creative Kokeshi dolls in the country. The first Gunma Kokeshi Contest was held in 1961 where design development and technical prowess are contested. Usaburo Kokeshi is exhibited every year with thoughts poured into each stroke and has won numerous awards at the All Japan Kokeshi Contest. Usaburo's Kokeshi dolls use high-quality materials like beautiful wood grain "Keyaki" as well as materials like "Kuri" and "Sakura". Additionally the technique to express three-dimensionality in the painted images is a new method devised by Usaburo. Made with care in each stroke Gunma Prefecture's traditional craft "Usaburo Kokeshi" would make a great Japanese souvenir or a special gift for your loved ones.
