Nambu Ironware Iron Kettle - Cold Plum Arare ~ARARE~ (Maximum capacity 1.2L)
This iron kettle features a luxurious "jet black" color a traditional and highly recognizable "arare" pattern and a stable flat ball shape. The handle is designed with a "plum bud" as plum trees endure the harsh cold of winter bloom many beautiful flowers around the Lunar New Year and signal the arrival of spring providing a sense of relief to people. This iron kettle symbolizes the unity and resilience of the nation in facing and overcoming various disasters and national crises.
It is suitable for use with IH cooking appliances/tabletop IH cookers (100V・200V). Please note that it may not be compatible with all IH cookers so if you have any concerns please inquire before purchasing.
The interior of the kettle is finished with a traditional rust-proof "suyaki" treatment (unpainted). When boiling water the iron kettle releases iron that is easily absorbed by the body providing an ideal source of iron supplementation.
The spout design reflects the craftsmanship and skill of artisans focusing on ease of pouring and good water flow.
The lid of the kettle becomes very hot when heated. To enhance safety the lid and body are designed to fit tightly together and stay in place securely.
Designed for everyday use at home with a size that is easy to handle. It is recommended to use up to about 70% of the capacity to prevent spilling.

An online shop based in Hata Mizusawa Oshu City Iwate Prefecture the hometown of Nanbu Ironware. We handle design and production in collaboration with local Nanbu Ironware artisans including foundry workers handle craftsmen and colorists to create a single product together.

Please Note:
Due to the manual production process there may be slight variations in size weight and coloring.
- When manufacturing cast iron molds made of sand are used which can create small dimples or imperfections depending on the size of the sand grains. These unique features do not affect the use of the kettle.
- The joint (tsuranuki) between the handle and the body may have color fading due to friction during handle installation. This is a result of the traditional technique and not a defect. The handle of this kettle is fixed and cannot be removed easily.
We will ship the kettle in an outer box to prevent damage to the packaging box. Gift wrapping services (+300 yen) are available if desired which can be selected on the order confirmation screen under "Gift Wrap/Message".
