With the Scribner seal and "A" on copyright page.
A bit of a publishing oddity, as the title of the book was changed, after this printing run, from Lest They Die to Paris Underground. The publisher then applied paper labels with the new title to both the spine and front boards, and designated it as an advance edition (while leaving the original title inside) with this notice on the front label: "To be published September 20 // Note: This copy was printed before title was changed from <<Lest They Die.>>" The label calls out the fact that the book was pre-selected to be a Book-of-the-Month Club dual selection for October, the month following the Scribner edition. The book was a huge hit, and those book club editions as well as later Scribner printings are quite common.
Perhaps adding to the confusion, the front pastedown endpaper bears the bookplate of the Reader's Digest library in Pleasantville, NY. It seems this copy was at one time housed in their corporate library. No other library markings evident.
Cover has some age darkening to spine and perimeters, some wear/chipping to paper labels. Endpapers tanned.
NOT a book club edition. Same or next business day ship, careful packaging, no surprises. Shipping includes delivery confirmation.
