WHY WE SALUTE, GRAPHIC TRAINING AID, U. S.ARMY.  GTA 21-2-6, 1 MARCH 1968.  U. S. GOVERNMENT PRINTING OFFICE: 1968 0-294-741.  This training tool has been updated andreprinted multiple times. This original card was issued to me in 1968 when inBasic Training at Fort Sam Houston, Texas, and was carried by me thru out my timein service.  I was trained as a Medic andserved my entire time in Vietnam. Attached for reference is a photo of me onarrival in country, 51st Medical Battalion, On assignment to 70th MedicalBattalion Field Hospital, Phu Thanh, Republic of Vietnam.  Card is 2.5” x 8”, laminated and folded, tocreate a 2.5” by 4” pocket sized card.  Verygood vintage condition considering how old it is, and where it’s been. Seephotos.

 

Provided here for your information:  The most current printing of this card is GTA21-02-027.  Updated January 1992.  This 2.5" x 4" card, B/W, 4 pagesprinted front and back on card stock paper, provides 6 reasons why the soldiersalutes, illustrates the different commissioned officer grades by showing thevarious pins (i.e., stars, eagle, bars), and illustrates enlisted grades byshowing the various stripes they wear. Also, General Orders (3) and SpecialOrders are listed. Supersedes GTA 21-2-26.
