The commemorative coin is dedicated to the

traditional pottery art that was formed in the village

of Opishnya in the Poltava region and dates back to

the 17th century. Opishnya ceramics have become a

landmark phenomenon of national culture – both in

artistic and ethnographic dimensions. It combines

deep artistic originality and sophisticated execution

technique, which have been preserved and passed

down from generation to generation for centuries. In

2012, Opishnya ceramics were included in the

National List of Elements of Intangible Cultural

Heritage of Ukraine, which testifies to its

significance as a component of cultural identity.

On the obverse of the coin, in the center of the

composition, the zoomorphic sculpture “Lion” by

Vasyl Omelyanenko is depicted (decorative element

 – color printing). On both sides of the sculpture are

fragments of the characteristic adhesive decor of

the zoomorphic sculpture. On the right – the small

State Emblem of Ukraine, the year of minting 2025,

the inscription UKRAINE, the denomination 5 and the

graphic sign of the hryvnia, as well as the logo of

the Banknote and Mint of the National Bank of

 Ukraine.

The reverse of the coin presents a stylized

composition formed from elements of the traditional

ornamental decor of Opishnya clay products, in

particular plates – real pearls of Ukrainian folk art,

which seem to go beyond the borders of one of

them. In the upper part of the coin – the inscription

 OPISHNYAN'SKA KERAMIKA.
