KTL Faux Wood Oval Rigging Blocks

These premium resin printed scale model rigging blocks are manufactured to resemble wood, through subtle variations in colour within the blocks and across batches. The colour is created through a dye process, not painted, and is intrinsic to the block. They are finished with a coat of acrylic varnish (except for sizes 1.7mm, 2.0mm and 2.5mm) to give protection against UV and fading over time . The end result, to my eye, looks a little like a cross between a horse chestnut and coffee bean. The larger the block size, the more obvious is the colour variation, much as you'd find with real wood. These blocks are intended to be used ‘as is’, straight from the packet, but you can still over-paint or coat them if you wish. The wood effect can be enhanced by polishing with coatings such as teak oil.

The blocks are available in single, double and triple sheave variants; and in fourteen sizes from 1.7mm to 10mm. The photos show the 4mm size rigged using 0.5mm rope. Packs sizes and dimensions are shown in the table below. Please note that the block size describes the height of the block, not the rope circumference. The hole diameter is larger than true scale for ease of threading.

The smallest sizes - 1.7, 2.0, 2.5 - are supplied unvarnished and still attached to their printing sprue, as this can be helpful for threading. I recommend varnishing once rigged.  All other sizes are supplied loose and ready to use.
