Mickey's Rival Mickey Mouse Animation Drawing (Walt Disney, 1936). This slick Latin-style lover, Mortimer, turns chicken bones into castanets -- and even taunts a bull into a fight in order to impress Minnie Mouse. The obnoxious character also helps himself to Mickey and Minnie's food, and plays a number of practical jokes on Mickey before beating a hasty retreat from the angry bull -- and leaving Mickey to deal with the problem! The short was released on 6/20/36 and was directed by Wilfred Jackson. Famed Disney animator/directors Clyde Geronimi and Les Clark contributed animation. The drawing can be seen in the still shown in the listing images. Poor Mickey's has just pulled the coffee cup off his nose and is holding it in his hand. It is unusual to see the ever-cheerful Mickey looking so agitated! Rendered in graphite and colored pencil on 12 field, 5-peghole animation paper. Mickey stands roughly 5" tall in the image. Mild age-related toning. Very Good condition and professionally framed. Some knicks on the frame (easy touch ups) as shown and one knick on the plexiglass as shown. Nothing very distracting. Frame Measures 18x20 and is a black/great marble coloring.
