Several years ago I purchased many vintage used chinstraps i found in a secured building I had access to at the formerly amazing Smith & Edwards War Surplus store. They had been undisturbed for years

These straps were removed/cut from US M1 steel helmets when the helmets were repurposed from the 1960s though the 1980s with the Vietnam metal type clip chinstraps.

They feature the late war ball & catch / buckle extender & spring steel hook.

With some patience and just a bit of sewing skill, these can be re-attached to your Strapless WWII OR Korean War era steel M1 helmet. I have also attached these with a hi-temp adhesive.

If you prefer original gear with honestly earned wear, dirt and scratches by the GIs who used them…. these are for you.
