To the 100th Anniversary of the Founding of the International Children's Center "ARTEK"
In 2025, the International Children's Center "Artek", which was founded on June 16, 1925 in Gurzuf on the Crimean Black Sea coast, celebrates its 100th anniversary. At first, it was a sanatorium camp for children with respiratory diseases, but over time, "Artek" has become the most famous children's center and one of the largest in the world.
In 2014, the temporary occupation of Crimea by Russia threatened the existence of the Ukrainian "Artek" on its historical base. In 2015, a children's center was opened in Puscha-Vodytsa near Kyiv, which was the first step towards preserving the traditions and values of "Artek" on the mainland of Ukraine. After the start of the full-scale invasion in 2022, given the existing threats, "Artek" was located in the Transcarpathian region.
100 years is a time during which "Artek" has experienced incredible changes and trials, but the spirit of "Artek" has remained unchanged. Today, it continues its mission - to raise a generation of strong, free, conscious Ukrainians.
