Richard Greeves (1935 - ): An American born artist is who received great acclaim for his depictions of Native Americans. He left home at 15 but prior to that had learn how to use a variety of hand tools from people in his neighborhood. Eventually, he wound up on the Wind River Reservation where he purchased the local trading post for his home and studio. Then he went on to win many awards: including the James Earle Fraser at the National Cowboy and Wester Heritage Museum. Today his works are enjoyed by critics and collectors alike as they are display in many esteemed collections, including his sculptures of Chief Washakie and Crazy Horse at the Buffalo Bill Historical Center.
