In or about 1910, Presser Co. created and published what it called “Reward Cards.” The Reward Cards were given to students who achieved a given level of proficiency or accomplishment in a course of study. There is evidence that in the beginning, if not for the entire time they were carried by Presser Co., these Reward Cards were made in Germany, and the German mastery of chromolithography is evident. On the front of each card is a color illustration of a famous composer and his birthplace, and on the back is the text of that composer’s biography.
