GUALBERTO: "vericuetos" (SPANISH MOVIE PLAY) SEALED SUPER RARE CASSETTE GTR HERO

Instrumental symphonic prog incorporating a strong strain of Rock Andaluz influence, as well as elements of Indian classical music. For reasons I'm not sure of the running order is quite brief, clocking in at around the half hour mark. That's a real shame because what's on offer is very good, inventive stuff that, from a basic Spanish template, explores several avenues of progressive rock music. I suppose there is some comparison to Emerson, Lake & Palmer stylistically but the centrality of the Spanish, and at times Moorish, influence means that Gualberto is no copycat, but rather a genuine innovator in his own right. His later work would become increasingly bland (isn't that always the way for prog acts) but in no way does that diminish what Gualberto has accomplished with this album. A very strong piece of work that fans of progressive rock should seek to add to their collections forthwith.
