Nice antique copper engraved map of central Asia, centered on Tartary, by Rigobert Bonne (1727-1794). 

The map covers the region from the Black Sea to Chinese Tartary. We can see Turkestan, Perse, Mongol, Tibet or Bhutan, Petite Tibet, Petite Bucarie, and Siberia. The map is engraved by Andre.



Rigobert Bonne was one of the most important French cartographers of the late 18th century. He was one of the most respected masters of mathematics, physics, and geography in Paris. In 1773, Bonne succeded Jacques-Nicolas Bellin as Royal Cartographer to France in the office of the Hydrographer at the Depôt de la Marine.
