Victorian officers box pattern epaulettes of the 39th (Dorsetshire) Regiment of foot. Bullion regimental lace to the body, with a caterpillar wire border and shoulder fringes. Brass gilt regimental buttons. Underside lined with red moroccan leather and padded silk, which does show some fraying. Unusual attachment bar, which is marked " W.Buckmasters Latest Improvements 1842". Accompanied with their original velvet lined storage tin, lid is now detached from it hinges.

The box pattern epaulette was introduced in 1830, and used up to 1855
