This vintage ceramic FRAPCO Planter was made sometime between 1939-1955 with a glaze finish,  The Fredericksburg Art Pottery Co. was opened in 1910 in Fredericksburg, Ohio.  In 1939, John T. McLane the President of the Sun Rubber Co became the new owner and made the decision to create novelty pottery items.  Local's were hired to hand-paint each piece (main colors used were white, green, pink, yellow, black and brown) so no two are exactly alike in their painting. The pottery was sold in five-and-dime stores all over the United States.  In 1955 the company was sold again and stoped making planters and novelty items and strictly made bathroom accessories (like toilets). The mid 20th-century style makes it a special item for those who appreciate retro decor and sentimental pieces.  This original Planter embodies a nostalgic era and is a delightful subject for collectors interested in decorative items from the past.
