This exceptional antique George III sterling silver fruit basket has a plain rounded reCtangular form onto a collet style foot.
The body of this impressive sterling silver basket is comprised of wirework loops accented with a solid silver swept, rounded border accented with applied gadroon decoration to the rim.
The border design is incorporated into the integrated cylindrical sterling silver handles at either end of the body; each handle features an impressive cast and applied leaf design to the handpiece.
This Georgian basket is fitted with a fine and impressive hallmarked rope twist decorated swing handle incorporating a central handpiece reflecting the design to that of the body.
The plain central well of this impressive basket is embellished with a contemporary bright cut engraved crest depiCting a lion rampant, holding an ancient battle-axe.
ConditionThis antique Georgian silver basket is an exceptional gauge of silver, exceptional quality and in exceptional condition.
The cast ornamentation is very sharp and the bright cut engraved heraldic marking is very crisp.
Full hallmarks struck to the surface of the foot are all very clear.
