This is a 1949 edition of the book, "The Cleveland Indians", by Franklin "Whitey" Lewis. It has its original dust jacket and a protective plastic cover over the dust jacket.

It has five signatures, all of which were authenticated by PSA/DNA. The full Letter of Authenticity is included, and the Authentication Number is AP01383. There is a dedication to members of a prominent Cleveland family, "With best wishes".

The signatures:

1. The author, Franklin Lewis (1904-1958), the Sports Editor for the Cleveland Press from 1939-1958. This was a bestseller for him. In the 1930's he wrote and published several popular songs.

2. Lou Boudreau (1917-2001), the Hall of Fame shortstop and manager. He played for the Indians from 1939-1950 and the Boston Red Sox in 1951-1952. He was the manager of the Indians from 1942-1950. He was an eight-time All Star, and had a remarkable season in 1948, when he batted .355, was named the American League MVP, and his team won the World Series, the second in the Indians history.

3. Bob Feller (1918-2010), the Hall of Fame pitcher. He played for the Indians from 1936-1941 and again from 1945-1956. In between, he served his country in World War II in the US Navy. When he volunteered, he became the first American professional athlete to enlist. He was also a member of the World Series Champions Indians in 1948.

4. Tris Speaker (1888-1958), the Hall of Fame centerfielder and manager. He played for the Boston Americans/Red Sox from 1907-1915, the Cleveland Indians from 1916 to 1926, the Washington Senators in 1927, and the Philadelphia Athletics in 1928. He managed the Indians from 1919-1926. He was a three-time World Series Champion (1912, 1915 and with the Indians in 1920), the American League MVP in 1912, the AL batting champion in 1916, and set a major league record of 792 doubles in his career.

5. Bill Veeck, Jr. (1914-1986), the Hall of Fame owner and promoter. He became the owner of the Cleveland Indians in 1946, and two years later they won the World Series. In 1947, in his capacity as owner and team president, he integrated the American League when he signed Larry Doby. Mr. Veeck served his country for three years during World War II and lost his right leg when a recoiling artillery piece crushed the leg.

This is a tremendous set of signatures; the Indians have won two World Series, in 1920 and 1948. Tris Speaker, in the 1920 World Series against Brooklyn, hit an RBI triple in the deciding 3-0 victory. Mr. Feller and Mr. Boudreau were key members of the Indians team that won in 1948. And Bill Veeck was at the helm in 1948 when they won it all.
