In fair condition. Full leather boards scuffed at edges and worn/bumped at corners with surface scratching. Head of spine scuffed, tail chipped. Hinges cracked & desiccated, title labels intact. Presentation bookplate on front pate-down. Permanent ink stamp also on front paste-down: "Leigh Winslow". Old-hand ink marginalia on front end-page: "For Gordon ? of Mr Drabes? Janr. 10. 1820. $4. 2 Vol." Scattered water or tea dampness staining throughout text-block, foxing a as result. Moderate age-staining and toning throughout text-block. Small tear on page 200.    William McKendree (1757 –  1835) was an Evangelist and the fourth Bishop of the Methodist Episcopal Church, and the first Methodist bishop born in the United States. He was elected in 1808.
