Rhenium is a very rare metal, with its tiny share in the earths crust, believed to be a maximum of 1 part per billion. It has an extremely high melting point, third in the periodic table. It also has the second highest boiling point. In 2008 Rhenium was selling for over $10,500 per Kg. Back to the melting point, Most pellets or ingots you see for sale are sintered Rhenium. That means that it is powder that has been heated and compressed with a lot of pressure.  They have a much darker brownish look, and they look nothing like the pure melted metal in our beads and pellets which are at their full density. It is extremely hard to reach a melt temperature of 3185 C. 


Our Story:

 

The Periodic Element Guy was started by an English guy with 2 young children. He wanted to wean them off computer games and teach them more about the elements in a fun and exciting way. He also wanted to make elements available to the masses at an affordable price.

 

In the last 2 years we have produced many unique and quality products. Our first product was the Periodic Element tile.

These are made with high quality acrylic which encase the element safely inside. Each tile has up to 4 separate vinyl’s, giving all the element info. On the big tiles, the purity. The whole process is done by hand and takes considerable time. We believe that these are not only great display tiles, but are unique works of art.

•        Small Tiles are 22mm x 15mm.

•        Micro Set Tiles 50mm x 30mm

We do combine shipping on all items. Shipping is calculated by the most expensive shipping item cost and then + $1 or 90p for each additional item.

We will upgrade your shipping to the closest option in shipping fees paid.

 

You can return any item to us up to 60 days after purchase for a full refund. On Precious Metal purchases you will only receive a 90% refund. This is because of fluctuations of Spot Price. Buyer pays return postage.
