Tony Bennett ‘I left my Heart in San Francisco’ LP record. This was owned by Ronnie Kray, given as a gift from someone called Ann. After Ron’s death, it was at some point given to one of Reg’s former girlfriend’s Christine Boyce. I acquired this from the estate of Christine. In the photos, you can see the note ‘To Ronnie, Best Wishes, Ann’ . The record cover shows signs of ageing, and the plastic protective cover is a bit creased, but the record itself is in good condition. This will be sent well protected, and recorded post. It took years before Ron was allowed to have a small record player in his room. He argued his case with the chief medical officer in Broadmoor at the time. He asked what the difference was between music played on a record player and music played on the radio. He said “You should let me have a record player you should let all patients who want one, it will make your job easier because music soothes a troubled mind. Eventually he relented and he let Ron have one on trial so long as he didn’t play it too loud. The experiment worked and Ron was the first patient allowed to keep a record player.
