On Easter Monday, April 22, 2019, President Donald Trump and First Lady Melania Trump hosted the141st annual Easter Egg Roll on the South Lawn of the White House.  Over 30,000 people attended.

Egg farmers provided a record 74,000 eggs to the White House for the Easter Egg Roll. Families in attendance also enjoyed Egg Pops, hard-boiled eggs on a stick that have become a new South Lawn tradition. Kids and their parents also had an opportunity to visit the AEB’s interactive Hen to Home exhibit learning about an egg’s journey from the farm to the plate.

The White House Easter Egg Roll is an annual tradition dating back to 1878 under the Administration of President Rutherford B. Hayes who hosted the first annual White House Easter Egg Roll exactly 141 years ago on White House grounds for children who wanted to roll Easter eggs. In 1885, indoor egg roll receptions became customary under President Grover Cleveland. President Benjamin Harrison ordered the Marine Band to play lively music while the children played on the South Lawn.

Over the years, each administration has added a personal touch.  Mrs. Trump's "Be Best" Campaign was a part of the 2019 egg roll. She read the book “The Wonderful Things You Will Be” to the children.
