Biographical: Born c. January 10, 291 in Corfu, Greece; martyred c. August 10, 304 in Rome, Italy (aged 13). Canonized in 1837 by Pope Gregory XVI.
Though her life was hidden for centuries until the discovery of her catacomb tomb in 1802, St. Philomena has become one of the most beloved intercessors in the Church. A young princess who took a vow of virginity for Christ, she withstood the persecutions of Emperor Diocletian with miraculous fortitude. St. John Vianney credited her with all the miracles at Ars, famously saying, "I do not make miracles; it is the little Saint who does them."
Symbolic Craftsmanship: This hand-made devotional bracelet is rich in the tradition of the "Cord of St. Philomena." The red and white 4mm nylon cord represents her double crown of martyrdom and virginity. Measuring approximately 30 inches, it features two adjustable sliding knots, allowing it to be wrapped 3 to 4 times around the wrist - a perfect fit for both children and adults.
The bracelet is secured by our custom-designed Stainless Steel Anchor Clasp, plated in real 18K Rose Gold. The anchor is a historical symbol of St. Philomena, recalling the miracle where angels saved her after the Emperor attempted to drown her with an anchor tied to her neck. This is the only clasp of its kind in the world, precision-engraved on one side with the theological virtues: FAITH, HOPE, and LOVE. All metal components are Nickel and Lead-free for sensitive skin.
Included with your bracelet is a high-quality, 5-mil laminated prayer card (2.5" x 3"). The front features our original Statue Art representation of St. Philomena, digitally restored to show her in a life-like pose with a crown of roses, lilies, and her symbols of martyrdom.
