An exceptional, fine and impressive antique Edwardian English sterling silver wine bottle holder/handle; an addition to our ornamental silverware collection
DescriptionThis exceptional and rare antique Edwardian sterling silver wine bottle holder/handle has a circular collar to an elongated handpiece.
The tapering circular collar of the holder is embellished with impressive chased and engraved floral decoration on a textured background.
The decoration to the collar incorporates a vacant cartouche to the anterior portion.
This silver bottle holder is fitted with an elongated handle ornamented with impressive chased fruiting vine decoration, accented with an engraved scrolling leaf decorated bolster in junction with the aforementioned collar.
The lower portion of the handpiece bears a hooked terminal; this allows the punt of the bottle to sit securely in place.
Such examples are typically crafted in electroplate; solid sterling silver examples are rare and highly desirable.
ConditionThis antique sterling silver wine bottle holder is an exceptional gauge of silver, exceptional quality and in exceptional condition.
The chased decoration is all very sharp and the engraved decoration is very crisp.
Full hallmarks struck to the rim of the collar are all very clear; the hallmarks are struck deeply due to the exceptional gauge of silver.
Reflections in photographs may detract from the true representation of this piece of antique Edwardian silverware.
