Pressure to trigger pop-off valve is typically set at 15-20% above systems operating pressure. Once pressure exceeds the set point the valve with relieve the pressure. After the pressure drops below the set point the valve will reset itself.

The pop-off valve plays a crucial role as a secondary pressure relief valve. This pop-off valve has a brass body and is designed to work together with a primary pressure regulating valve, such as a pressure regulator or unloader valve. The pop-off valve should be set to open at approximately 200 PSI above the primary pressure control valve's adjusted pressure. In the event of a primary valve failure, this secondary valve will bypass fluid to protect the operator's safety and the integrity of the high-pressure pumping system.
