Q) What surfaces can kitchen wraps be applied to? 

A) Most flat surfaces are generally OK like wood, metal, glass, tiles, plastic, primed MDF but avoid uneven surfaces like brick/stone walls, textured glass, dirty or damp surfaces, wet areas (unless sealed), floors, direct heat (distance of 15cm needed) and raw MDF.

Q) How do I remove air bubbles?

A) If you get air bubbles, don’t worry.  You can either peel back and re-apply (the vinyl is repositionable with a water-based adhesive), or use a pin to prick the bubble and smooth out.  You can minimise the appearance of air bubbles by following these simple steps :-

·         Only peel back a small amount of backing paper at a time.

·         Smooth the vinyl from the centre out to the edges, peeling away the backing paper little by little as you go.

·         It is sometimes helpful to spray a little water to the surface of the area you are covering which helps the film glide into place and minimise air bubbles. 

Q) Are kitchen wraps heat resistant?

A) Yes, the films are heat resistant to 70C so hot plates and cups are fine but use worktop savers for hot pans.

Q) Are kitchen wraps water resistant?

A) Yes, the films surface is water resistant and can be wiped clean, but you need to prevent water from getting underneath, as this will compromise the adhesive and the vinyl may start lift.  To avoid this, always use sealant around edges and joins when using in wet areas such as kitchens and bathrooms.

Q) Can kitchen wraps be applied to bevelled or shaker style doors?

A) Yes, it’s not as straight forward as flat fronted doors, but you can still do it in one of two ways :-

·         Place the film over the whole door, make pin pricks in the vinyl where the grooves are and then using a hairdryer on a low setting and your smoother to gently push the film into the grooves.

·         Cut strips to cover the side and bottom sections and then fill in the centre piece (preferred method)

Q) How do I clean and maintain kitchen wraps?

A) Kitchen Wraps can be wiped clean using normal household cleaners. Remember to use a chopping board when using knives and a heat proof mat for hot pans.

Q) Can kitchen wraps be removed?

A) Yes, in the vast majority of cases the film can be peeled away, even after a long period of time.  We recommend heating the vinyl with a hairdryer on a low setting to soften the adhesive, making it easier to peel.
