This was the largest of this series of compotes, which came in 5 inch, 6 inch, 7 inch and this 8 inch version. The largest was also the most expensive, was the least purchased and is the rarest today. Additionally, the unembellished areas in such glass items were sometimes further etched/cut by local artisans as was a practice at that time. This example is as it was presented from the factory.
There are no cracks, scratches, chips or flaws of any kind that we can find after searching under bright lights and magnification; we rarely call such items "Mint" out of an abundance of caution.
Riverside Glass Company operated on the banks of the Ohio River from 1880 to 1907 in Wellsburg, WV. Production of the "Brilliant" compotes began in 1895.
