Tree shrub or small tree 3-4 m tall with short trunk, fragile, somewhat twisted at times. Blooms in May-June. Ovoid berry fruit 4-6 cm long, with long peduncle in which the chalice of the flower persists. Smooth orange-red skin at maturity, with lighter colored stripes. Juicy pulp, somewhat acidic. Plant in seedlings almost without burying the seeds in a very drained soil and a sheltered site
