Very large antique copper engraved postal route map of central Europe, by William Faden.

The map extends from Netherlands and eastern France to Poland (the Great Poland), Lithania, Hungary, Slovenia, Croatia and northern Italy.

Size with margins : 79,5 x 65,2 cm / 31,1 x 25,5 inches

Condition : very good condition, on strong paper.


William Faden (1749-1836) was an English cartographer and a very famous map editor. He was the royal geographer to King George III. He replaced Thomas Jefferys in this role. The title "King’s Geographer" was given to various people in the 18th century, including John Senex, Herman Moll, Emanuel Bowen and Thomas Jeffreys.
